It's the rainy season, here, high the the mountains of Jalisco, Mexico. The mornings start out damp, turn rather sunny, and then between noon and 3 p.m., the clouds form above the peaks, another 4000 feet above us, and descend into the pueblo. Here is 4500 feet, the clouds can descend right to ground level. Either that, or San SebastiƔn del Oeste is a town that ascends on a regular basis. Most afternoon it rains, and thunder is frequent. The electricity frequently is on a brown-out or I have none at all, for several hours, anywhere from once a week, to 4 times a week.
Here, the noises are that of construction, birds, the few cars/trucks, and dogs barking or fighting, and roosters crowing. At sunrise, or late in the evening, the local banda plays for someone.
There are only about 600 residents here. I live near the health center. It is the only doctor, and has not even an x-ray machine. It does have an ambulance, and if the canyon does not have a bad derrumba that has not been attended to, one can get to Puerto Vallarta in an hour to an hour and a half. There is a small air-strip near Hacienda Jalisco, more about that place later.
